There is a wide range of baby products available and what is good for one baby is not necessarily good for others. The choice between the different types of products available is a matter of personal preference while taking into consideration the lifestyle, personal preferences, finances and concern for the environment of the parents, and health, allergies and preferences of the baby.

Products commonly used are:

Nappies: Parents have a choice between cloth or disposable, or even eco-friendly and recyclable nappies.

Toys: Care must be taken to buy age appropriate toys only, as unsuitable toys can be dangerous for baby or a young child.

Baby Development: Various books, cards, games and other products are available to assist with the baby’s development. Some products focus on intellect, others on creativity, hand-eye-co-ordination, balance, etc.

Baby Feeding: Milk for bottle feeding and cereals for older babies are widely available. These have different nutrients and cater for babies with allergies e.g. soy, milk, wheat, or just ordinary dietary needs. Some products are organic and others just focus on healthy development.

Baby Bathing: This will include baby baths, baby bath seats, bath toys, bath mats, baby towels, bath thermometer- all products to make bathing easier and less stressful for baby and parent.

Baby grooming: Babies have very sensitive skins and grooming products must be tested on a small patch of baby’s skin before use to establish any allergies. This includes bath soap, shampoo, conditioners, moisturizing creams, baby skin oils, hair oil, and baby fragrances

Baby Soothing: Various kinds of pacifiers and blankets

Baby Teething: Cold objects often alleviate the discomfort of teething, such as frozen teething rings and frozen food feeders. Other products are soft chew toys, and gel filled teethers.

Baby Health and Safety: So many products are involved with baby health – very important are baby monitors, night lights (which will not disturb baby), medicine dropper and electric plug blockers, first aid kits and cupboard latches.

Potty Training: This stage can be stressful for both parents and toddlers. To encourage toddlers to get potty trained, novel products can assist: pretty potties, padded toilet seats, spill free potties and many more.
